It's pretty funny to try to compare these two completely opposite styles, the Wrench with a sense of sleek Nordic design and work on textures produce trash bikes full of character an made to be ride in a big city, the Deus riding the wave of retro with candy productions which are very cleans and politically correct, they make us dream with bikes for beach or holiday
Which of these guys would you choose to built your custom bike and why ?
what is your choice ? Write a review
4 sure wrenchmonkees,Deus machines are non proportioned and some look like comics bikes.
ReplyDeleteWrenchmonkees attitude "less is more" its quite better, and the details on their bikes are supreme!!!
German Karp,Argentina.
Wrenchmonkees, no doubt. The guys from Deus are "the Beach Boys" of the specials, but the monkees are the Rolling Stones.
ReplyDeleteStylistically, as you mentioned above, they are distinct and fantastic in their own rights. Both WM and Deus are in the forefront of the custom/vintage creative pack. Though I am a surfer, and I grew up in Brazil, where middleweight bikes were more accessible/functional in the 70s and 80s, I have a penchant for the heavyweights, especially KAWASAKIS... So I would have to go with WM!
ReplyDeleteThe monkeys! The Deus bikes are almost too clean, the Wrenchmonkees have a bit of grit and character...
ReplyDeleteWM has Retro style , Deus is classic style. This is very wrong idea to Versus this creator.
ReplyDeleteMost of my bikes look more like Wrenchmonkees bikes, and I love their aesthetic, but I'd pick Deus. Wrenchmonkees are a little predictable, and as much as I like them, I can't shake the feeling that all their bikes look essentially the same, and that I have "seen them all before." Deus is more stylistically adventurous, and more of a wild card, and I love that characteristic in an artist.
ReplyDeleteBoth are cool. But Wrenchmonkeys have a more concise stylistic signature. The Apple of vintage bikes?
ReplyDeleteAs a german guy.. definitly WM.. we are united in europe :)lol
ReplyDeletewell i gotta say, the grievous angel from deus is à chef-d'œuvre.. and so are some of the xs650 they built... but i the long run wrench have a certain class on each and every one of their compositions. less is more.
ReplyDeleteOut of these two i would prefer WM, but are we not forgetting a lot of other cool builders, for instance Mule, Bratstyle and several other vintage bike builders, that are spread round the world..
ReplyDeleteTo be sure you get the bike you want, build it yourself!
lol ok i thought there were sort of dilemma to choose between these creators but as someone noticed it could be a wrong idea to compare them or to make a VS choice like this...in a perfect world i would have a wrench to ride in Paris and a Deus in my see front house but we are not in a erfect world and i don't have enough bucks to buy both and but i have to admit that if i had to choose i would take WM !
ReplyDeleteBut i'm afraid to be tired of Wm at long term, tank painting textures are always the same as the accessories and the "spirit" of all bikes are very similar on the other hand Deus are perhaps more creatives and paradoxically more resectful of the bike history
one of you said the deus bikes are not well proportioned and i agree with this big seat small tank wich strengthens the toy feeling when i look such a bike !!!!
so we have
1 for Deus
1 for both
1 who thinks it's not a good idea to comare
6 for Wrench
if these guys are the most influent in retro bike customization and when you start a new project you are mainly influenced by these guys we have to notice that some guys create their own spirit as CRD, spirit of 70's, TPR classified and begin to be influent, do you thinks these guys are matures ?
Wrench all the way...
ReplyDeleteHmm Very interesting & exotic Bikes.
ReplyDeleteIMO, Deus bikes are basically well selected aftermarket parts which anyone can easily bolt/customise themselves. To me, WM are better in fabricating parts to reflect their style.
ReplyDeleteI'm only going to talk about the Wrenchmonkees. Their 750 Zephyr made me love cafe bikes while, using such a "modern" bike didn't give me the sad perspective of never being able to have one. I love old vehicles, i own a '79 Capri and its hell to fix up and find parts for. A bike like their Zephyr is a dream almost anybody can accomplish. Might sound like something too popular, maybe smearing the authenticity of the cafe racer name due to being so new and maybe common but we all know that the bike you start from is so far from what you can end up with, it makes this fade away. So, I'm not saying they made something common, easily achievable, I'm saying they just showed at least to me, how limitless design is..
ReplyDeleteMade this decition last winter and went with WM and could not be happier!
ReplyDeleteGreat guys, great bikes. WM FTW!
i choose both!
ReplyDeleteyess...wrench it all...
ReplyDeleteWrench all the way. Stance means everything!
ReplyDeleteI'll soon get my second wm bike, great guys, great spirit. wouldn't mine having a silky Deus bike...although WM are the best... already thinking of 3rd project...
ReplyDelete+1 for Wrench, ain't an aussie : can't go surfing everyday ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat about us at untitled motorcycles ?
ReplyDeletelol ok next duel united Vs the spirit of 70 ? special London ;)
